All other transborder services include "complimentary" brokerage by UPS (although the recipient must still pay import taxes if the shipper didn't indicate otherwise). Brokerage is the paperwork and administration that UPS needs to do to successfully present your shipment to Canada customs. UPS Standard to Canada is the only transborder service that does not include brokerage in the rate. (Bonus) Make sure the consignee is aware that he may be charged import taxes, as well as UPS Brokerage charges. If it gets stuck in customs, the tracking will clearly indicate so. Yes, packages are transported such long distances by trailer or train. Yes, it is normal to have no updates for several days while the shipment is on a truck or rail car. eBay did not force me to give their money back. Yes, it is being transported to another hub. I had a couple packages lost but tracking showed that they were shipped.Delivery may take up to seven business days. Insert 4 ft metal stake into block and hammer about 1 foot into the ground. I'm assuming you are referring to UPS Standard to Canada. spending a few extra bucks for the ins.UPS Ground is domestic only. The eBay estimated delivery is only relevant since you have to wait for it to pass so you can file an item not described case if you need to. Usually earlier unless the seller delays alot. When/if the seller ships, the estimated time on the tracking number is the accurate one. I am sorry this happened to you but the lesson I personally have learned thru the years is to think about whether or not I want to pay the amount of the item lost out of my pocket vs. The estimated delivery that eBay provides is later than usual. I did have a package magically appear that was missing for 8 months & never figured that one out. I have come to the conclusion over the years that because of the daily volume of mail plus the fact that they are always super busy that in reality nobody really looks for missing items & the unwritten policy is for the PO to apologize & send out the form letter because it is probably a given that they will lose a small percentage of items during the year therefore as far as the PO is concerned this is an inevitable part of the business. I have filed several missing packages thru the years & I have made the initial & follow up phone calls to all of the POs involved & its always the same thing-the exact same form letter telling me they can't find the package. I've come to realize I don't think they take the online missing item requests seriously or with an ounce of urgency. If the package has moved and just stopped moving, like maybe it made it to the destination's post office but wasn't delivered, try calling that post office and giving them the tracking number, describe the package to them and see if they can find it. It never updates even though I receive it. You may have some luck attempting to go to your local post office and giving them the tracking number and seeing if they can look it up, they may know something you don't know. So, twice now as a buyer (only with signature confirmation packages), I’ve received the package successfully (without signing), but the tracking on USPS is not entered as successful (delivery attempted - no access to delivery location). By that time I had already sent the buyer another item so I had them re-direct that missing package back to me. One time I can recall there was a package literally sitting in a supervisors office at the destination post office. I have found that calling the actual post office where the last scan was has worked occasionally. And they've never found any of the packages from submitting those online missing item requests. I've submitted many of those over the years, out of maybe 10 or so that i've submitted, i've gotten a response from the USPS once. You'll likely find that the missing package case you've opened with be pointless. So the sender had initially made the order to he ups sure post. In your case you'd need to refund the buyer but don't do that until you've re-directed the package back to yourself! When the USPS has lost shipments (it seems to happen more frequently lately) I ship another one once it's clear there is no more movement in tracking, though selling new items that I have multiples in stock of makes it easy to replace a lost package.
